Good news for tourists and Germans visiting Arnhem! As long as you show a valid passport and are above 18 years old, everybody is allowed to buy weed in Arnhem.
Quite often you see with cities close to a border, like Breda or Den Bosch, that the local government restricts the sale of cannabis to residents only. Luckily for our German friends, you are very welcome in the city and can enjoy the coffeeshops without any restrictions.
Another interesting fact is that the ‘’weed experiment’’ will start in Arnhem on the 17th of June, 2024. With this weed experiment it will be possible for coffeeshops to buy cannabis legally. In the current laws within the Netherlands it is very hard for coffeeshops to operate, as buying is illegal but selling is tolerated. This experiment already started in Breda and Tilburg and so far we are really happy with it. The ‘legal’ weed being sold has a lot of information about the origin, percentage THC and CBD and overall quality and price is amazing. Also for the coffeeshops this new law could be a gamechanger when they can operate more legally.

Located pretty close to both the central station as train station Arnhem Velperpoort you can visit coffeeshop Zero Zero. The shop itself is located on the first floor. After walking up the stairs you will find an environment with a very relaxed vibe. The smoking area feels welcoming to hang around for a while and smoke your weed.
Also for the cannabis menu we can highly recommend coffeeshop Zero Zero. Over the years they have won plenty of cannabis cup awards like the highlife cups. This is a solid proof for the quality strains they sell in this weed dispensary. Zero Zero has an extensive menu with a lot of different strains, both weed and hash. Everything is pre-packed in bags of €5 or €10. We usually like it more when they weigh behind the counter in front of you, but small bags like this makes it easily possible to try out a lot of different things.
The staff is experienced and open to answer any of your questions. The overall experience is superb in Zero Zero and in our opinion it belong to the list of best coffeeshops in Arnhem!

Coffeeshop THC was the first coffeeshop opening its doors in the city of Arnhem. Established in 1975, the place almost has 50 years of experience in making people happy with cannabis. Located, like several other dispensaries at the Sonsbeeksingel, it is easily accessible by both train and car.
When you enter THC, you’ll find a neat shop with a living room vibe. There is a smoking area but it doesn’t have a lot of place, so it might not be the coffeeshop in Arnhem to hang out. For take-away we can highly recommend THC. The weed menu has quite some variety and consists overall of high quality products. The staff is knowledgeable and was willing so answer some of the questions we had.

Located in the center city of Arnhem, you can buy weed at coffeeshop Upstairs. This coffeeshop is very known in the city and definitely belongs among the best coffeeshops in Arnhem. The shop is known for the friendly staff, who are always open for a chat and help you in selecting the best suitable strains among their extensive offer.
Coffeeshop Upstairs opened their doors in 1990 and is since then a known name among the residents of Arnhem. Both for buying weed and hash as to have a great time we would recommend this place. They offer a lot of things for entertainment such as several screens and games. For the weed menu you’re also at the right place. The menu is extensive for both weed and hash.
Coffeeshop De Walm

Located very close to coffeeshop THC and Lucky Luke, you’ll find Coffeeshop De Walm. Before this place had a smoking area but this is not the case anymore, therefore only visit De Walm for take away. The place is neat and clean and definitely worth to wait a while when there is a line on busier moments.
The staff is exceptional at the Walm and know a lot about the strains that they sell. For both weed and hash they have several choices. We’ve bought some hash, unfortunately we forgot what strain but it was top tier. We also bought some walm haze. We couldn’t place the exact strain they rebranded to their own name, but it was pretty good as well. For sure recommended and in our opinion, one of the best coffeeshops in Arnhem!
Coffeeshop Lucky Luke

Also established in 1990, Lucky Luke is a known name in Arnhem for a long time. We read an article that the ownership of this coffeeshop is recently transferred from parents to daughter, amazing to keep such a company within the family. Coffeeshop Lucky Luke has (obviously) a western style. There are also two smoking areas where smoking is allowed. You can play games there, there is free internet and there are a few TV screens. Since its new owner the shop has been modernized and is ready for the next decades.
Beside the special style, coffeeshop Lucky Luke offers a good amount of different strains of weed and hash. Just like other shops in Arnhem they are unfortunately not allowed to sell edibles. Extra reason to just buy weed and make one of our stoner recipes yourself 😉
