Let’s get into the 10 best coffeeshops in The Hague (Den Haag)! With a whopping 36 coffeeshops, Den Haag secures the number 3 spot for Dutch cities with the most shops. Only the capital Amsterdam and Rotterdam have more coffeeshops than The Hague.
For a long time, The Hague's coffeeshop policy has aimed to keep the industry small and under control. This means stopping trouble from happening, keeping young people safe, and making sure hard drugs are sold separately from soft drugs. Thanks to this policy, the number of coffeeshops dropped from 103 in 1995 to just 36 by 2024. Right now the local government agrees things are stable and manageable. However, there's a concern that too many coffeeshops are clustered in Zeeheldenkwartier and Weimarstraat, which is making it harder for people to live comfortably in those areas. Therefore council wants to move one coffeeshop to another location in the city, most likely this will be Coffeeshop Galaxy.
Due to the decrease of 104 coffeeshops to ‘’just’’ 36, The Hague has an average amount of coffeeshops per resident. In general, the government aims for one coffeeshop for every 15,000 to 20,000 people. With about 565K residents in 2024, The Hague falls within this scope. Read our article for more information regarding the current cannabis legislation in The Netherlands.
With 36 coffeeshops in city, there is plenty of choice for us cannabis enthousiasts! We’ll cover the 10 best coffeeshops in The Hague, and end with a list with relevant information about all coffeeshops in the city. This article is written by Open Your Mind. Beside providing valuable information for European stoners, we focus on designing beautiful and practical cannabis accessories.

Coffeeshop Fly
Address: Veenkade 46, Den Haag
Reviews Google: 4.8/5
Are tourists allowed in coffeeshop Fly: Yes, tourists are allowed
Smoking area: No
Coffeeshop Fly is a well-known spot for cannabis users in The Hague. For over 15 years, the shop has been appreciated for their expertise, value, and great staff. Fly more than just a simple coffeeshop, offering a personal touch that most customers love.
Transparency is very important in their policy, they were the first in The Hague to display their entire product range on the bar, allowing customers to see and weigh everything in front of them, without any barriers.
At Coffeeshop Fly, you'll find a wide variety of cannabis, all lab-tested and safe. They offer strains from the Netherlands, the USA, Canada, and Morocco. Each purchase comes with a QR code for a detailed report on the product. For the quality you are definitely at the right place, as they won several awards in the Highlife Cup 2024. They won first place in category Hash Special with their ‘’Holy Cream’’. We did not have a chance to try it yet, but are very much looking forward to it!
The website mentions that coffeeshop Fly is easily accessible by car, foot, tram (line 17, stop at "Noordwal"), bike, scooter, and motorbike. They are wheelchair-friendly too and everyone is welcome at Coffeeshop Fly!
Unfortunately they do not have a smoking area, but for take away this is definitely one of the best coffeeshops of The Hague.
Coffeeshop Greenhouse Secret Farmers
Address: Elandstraat 18, Den Haag
Reviews Google: 4.6/5
Are tourists allowed in coffeeshop Greenhouse Secret Farmers: Yes, tourists are allowed
Smoking area: Yes
Also coffeeshop Greenhouse Secret Farmers has received multiple awards, not at the Highlife Cup but at the Jack Herrer Cup. They have won the 1st price for Best Coffeeshop In The Netherlands in both 2021 and 2022! Surely, this shop can’t miss in our list. And we are very jealous of the stoners in The Hague, with many price winning coffeeshops in the city.
The Greenhouse Secret Farmers are a known name in the industry for more than 30 years. They work with local producers to make sure all products are organically and responsibly grown. Quality is of the utmost important at this coffeeshop, which is definitely noticeable when buying cannabis or hash here.
The menu includes the newest strains from California and Canada, along with classic Dutch strains like Mexican Haze and Bubbles. The hash collection features traditional Moroccan hash, double-filtered hash, high-quality dry freeze hash, temple ball hash, and even some special rosin. Definitely some stuff you won’t come across at a regular coffeeshop in the Netherlands!
The coffeeshop itself looks amazing as well. They put a lot of effort into the design and it feels very welcoming to hang around in the smoking area. We highly recommend the Greenhouse Secret Farmers both to hang out as well as for take-away only.

Are tourists allowed in coffeeshop Dizzy Duck (Downtown): Yes, tourists are allowed
Smoking area: Yes, both shops have a smoking area
While the title noticed that we would only cover 10 coffeeshops in Den Haag, we couldn’t choose between Dizzy Duck and Dizzy Duck Downtown! Therefore we decided to feature both of these shops in this section, as they are from the same company.
Dizzy Duck Downtown won several awards at the Highlife Cup 2024, with especially they first price with ‘’Weed winner overall’’ is an impressive accomplishment. Their ‘’Kosher Kush’’ was ranked best along all weed related categories. For sure a reason to visit and see if they have a couples of grams left😉
Both shops are known to have the full package: high quality products, knowledgeable staff and a warm and welcoming environment. In our opinion the key factors in rating a coffeeshop. One last pro is that all strains are lab tested, something that is becoming more and more important in the cannabis industry. A real good development and we find the Dizzy Duck coffeeshops a role model for other coffeeshops in our country.

Coffeeshop Cremers
Address: Prinsestraat 84, Den Haag
Reviews Google: 4.5/5
Are tourists allowed in coffeeshop Cremers: Yes, tourists are allowed
Smoking area: Yes
The Cremers’ building has a rich history. Once a classy hat shop in the middle of the Hofkwartier, it was part of the Quartier Latin of The Hague with its chic restaurants and cozy shops. During WWII, Jewish refugees hid in the attic, and the workshop produced hats for the Germans. After the war, it became the first wine and cheese house in the Netherlands, Tasteduvin, attracting many artists, including the Cobra group. The owner lived comfortably off the paintings he received as payment.
In the 60s, it transformed into café Moby Dick and then bar-dancing Romanov's, where owners Joop and Dennis openly embraced their homosexuality, a rarity at the time, and it was packed every weekend. Older locals recall its red plush decor, no windows, and bartenders' costumes. Later, it became the infamous Bulldog, known for its gritty atmosphere back then.
When the partnership with Bulldog Amsterdam ended, it turned into Grand Café Cremers, celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2015. The café then transformed into Brody’s Taphouse, an American-style taphouse named after the owner's affectionate term for his loved ones. Despite investing and trying, the concept didn’t catch on, and COVID-19 sealed its fate.
In 2020, amidst the pandemic, it was clear a return to basics was needed. Grand Café Cremers reinvented itself as one of the coolest spots to smoke cannabis/hash in The Hague. The coffeeshop now offers a café experience with a lot of TV screens to watch sports and servings drinks such as CBD beers and cannabis wine.
The building probably has the richest history among the other shops stated in this list and we enjoyed diving into it. Now Coffeeshop Cremers is a known name and for sure belongs in the list of best coffeeshops in The Hague.
