The base of every edible recipe starts with making cannabis butter or cannabis oil. To make weed brownies it is easiest to use cannabis butter. The cooking time to make cannabis butter takes approximately 60 minutes. Fortunately, you can make more and freeze this in to save this time for the next edible cooking session.
The cooking time for the weed brownies, following recipe below, takes around 90 minutes.
So total cooking time of the cannabis butter and cannabis brownies combined is 150 minutes (2.5 hours). In our opinion definitely worth it!
Ingredients for weed brownies
Ingredients for the brownies
- 30 gr of Cannabis Butter
- 200 gr regular unsalted butter
- 115 gr of chocolate (pure)
- 100 gr pecans
- 2 eggs
- 1 egg yolk
- 330 gr of sugar
- ¼ tsp of salt
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract
- 125 gr of flour
- 25 gr cacao powder
Ingredients for the caramel
- 75 ml cream
- Big pinch of sea salt
- 150 gr of sugar
- 2,5 tablespoons of water
- 50 gr of regular butter
Further needed
- Butter for greasing
- Sea salt (flakes), for sprinkling
How to make salted caramel weed brownies?
- Preheat the oven to 175 °C. Line a baking sheet with baking paper. Spread the pecans on the baking sheet and roast them for 7 to 9 minutes. Let the nuts cool and chop them coarsely.
- Grease a 20-centimeter square baking pan with butter and line the bottom and two sides with baking paper.
- Put the butter with the chocolate in a heatproof bowl and melt it au bain-marie or in the microwave. Let the melted mixture cool slightly.
- Meanwhile, beat the two eggs and egg yolk with the sugar, salt and vanilla extract until fluffy, about 5 minutes using a (hand) mixer with whisk(s).
- Using a spatula, mix the chocolate mixture into the fluffy mixture until even. Then also mix in the flour and cocoa powder and finally add ⅔ of the toasted pecans.
- Pour the batter into the baking pan and bake the brownies for 40 minutes. Then let them cool completely in the mold.
- Put the whipping cream with the salt in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Meanwhile, put the sugar with the water in another (tall) pan and let it boil until a golden brown caramel. In the beginning you can stir a bit to mix everything well, but once the mixture boils you really shouldn't stir anymore. When the salted caramel is good, pour in the warm cream. Be careful, this will splash and bubble and is very hot. Stir the mixture well until even. Stir in the butter until dissolved. Remove the pan from the heat and let the caramel cool to room temperature.
- Coat the brownies with the cooled caramel. Top with remaining toasted pecans and sea salt flakes for the ultimate caramel and sea salt brownie.
