Preparing the cannabis in the decarboxylating process takes around 60 minutes.
Once you finished this step, you can begin with the cannabis burgers. This step will also take approximately 30 minutes.

How to decarboxylate the cannabis for edibles?
Before using cannabis in edible recipes, a crucial step called decarboxylation is necessary. This process "activates" the plant material, allowing it to reach its full potential and produce the desired effects. Cannabis naturally contains compounds like THC and CBD in their acidic forms, which are not psychoactive. Decarboxylation involves applying heat to remove a carboxyl group from these molecules, converting them into their active forms, such as THC, which can then produce the familiar cannabis high.
When you smoke or vaporize cannabis, the high temperatures instantly decarboxylate the compounds, making them immediately available for absorption into the bloodstream and resulting in a quick onset of effects. For making edibles, you need the following supplies and steps.
Supplies needed to decarboxylate weed
- Oven
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper or aluminum foil
- Weed (about 1 gram for this recipe)
- Weed grinder (optional)
Steps for decarboxylating weed to make edibles
- Preheat your oven to 110ºC and position the rack in the middle to ensure even heating. Ovens often have temperature variations, so this placement is ideal for proper decarboxylation.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Break up or coarsely grind the cannabis, then spread it evenly on the sheet. Avoid grinding too finely to prevent burning.
- Place the baking sheet in the oven and heat the cannabis for 30 minutes, stirring at least once during the process.
- After the heating period, let the cannabis cool at room temperature for 30 minutes.
- The decarboxylated cannabis should look lightly toasted with a golden brown color.
- Follow the steps below to make the cannabis burgers
Ingredients for cannaburgers
- 1 kg beef mince
- 1 onion
- 1 gram of decarbed cannabis
- 1 egg
- Spices, like paprika powder, garlic, pepper and salt
- Hamburger buns
- Lettuce
- Tomatoes
- Pickles
- Cheese
Recipe to make weed burgers
- Decarboxylate your cannabis as described above. After doing this, grind the decarbed cannabis extra finely and remove small sprigs. The flowers should be as fine as powder.
- Combine the meat, sliced onion, cannabis, egg and spices in a bowl. Mix everything together by hand until an even consistency is reached.
- Take your mix and flatten it on a clean surface to an even thickness. A little flour on the surface will prevent the meat from sticking to it. You should make thick, round burgers that are ready to fry.
- Carefully lift the burgers with a flipper or spatula, and place on a plate in the refrigerator for a few hours.
- Add olive oil to a frying pan. Heat the to a high temperature. Place the burgers in it and turn them over after a minute. This will seal the meat, keeping the juices in. You can add more salt and spices at this point. Lower the heat to medium and continue cooking for 5-10 minutes, depending on the quality of the meat and how raw you want the center to be - turn the burgers occasionally. If you want cheese, be sure to add it a few minutes before you finish frying and let it melt a little.
- Garnish your burger as desired with lettuce, tomato, pickles, cucumber or other greens.
- Add a sauce as desired

When do edibles take effect?
The onset time for edibles can vary significantly, typically ranging from 30 minutes to 2 hours. This variation depends on several factors, including your metabolism, the type of edible, and whether you've eaten recently.
People with faster metabolisms may feel the effects of edibles like space cake sooner than those with slower metabolisms. The type of edible also matters; for example, beverages, gummies, and brownies are digested differently. Beverages usually take effect faster than solid edibles because they are absorbed more quickly.
Additionally, consuming edibles on an empty stomach can lead to quicker effects, while eating them after a meal can delay the onset. Given these variables, it’s important to start with a low dose and wait at least two hours before taking more to avoid overconsumption.
Keep some non-infused snacks handy for when the munchies hit. This will help prevent accidentally eating more edibles and overconsuming.
